“The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday asked the Central Pollution Control Board to assess the ambient air quality level in the national capital region (NCR) for the next one week through a joint team comprising the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and the environment ministry.
The NGT direction comes ahead of the next round of the odd-even scheme—the restrictions being placed by the Delhi government on private vehicles plying on the road—set to begin on 15 April for two weeks.
Tribunal chairperson Swatanter Kumar asked the joint team to collect samples for analysis from at least 10 sites across NCR for seven days. Samples have to be collected at peak and non-peak hours from these sites.
The tribunal will consider this report on 19 April, when the case is scheduled to be heard next. The NGT had sought reports from the Delhi government during the last odd-even scheme in January.” Live Mint. Read it on delhiair.org
