This is a landmark decision to give a fair picture of the industries,’ environment minister Prakash Javadekar said after releasing the new categorization of industries on Saturday based on their pollution load.

“Major industries in the white category which would not require any clearance from the ministry or consent to operate from state pollution control boards are solar power generation using photovoltaic cells, wind power, mini-hydroelectric power (less than 25 megawatts), assembling of electric lamp (bulb) and CFL, fly ash bricks and carpet weaving.Over the past one year, the environment ministry has been working on the recategorization of industries.” LiveMint.
