“The Union Environment Ministry will set up a control room at the Central Pollution Control Board
(CPCB) in Delhi to conduct a daily review of pollution levels from different monitoring stations, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said Friday. ‘We will immediately set up a control room in CPCB to undertake a daily review of levels of air pollution and monitor the air quality in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR). The recent 15-day long smog in Singapore is like a warning to all cities, including Delhi, to become more serious about the issue,’ said Javadekar. He added that directions will be issued, under Section 18 of the Air Act, to “bring in accountability” to improve the air quality in Delhi and NCR.” The Indian Express.
